Mars Explorer, AcerBoy, Community, Discussions, Games & Strategies

Greetings fellow martian troops,
i was thinking about something:

what would mars explorer be like with people

i guess it would be good because you get third person action. so u can do human stuff like climbing as high as u like (with equipment, you could get equipment from reset point) you could also jump and do hand to hand combat. you could also do things like handshakes and hugs.

the bad side i guess would be that mars explorer will no longer be what it is right now. There will be cars and people. but most people will choose men i guess. so what if we could start off with a buggy with a man in it? and you could abandon buggy anytime u like? it would probably also be bad because mars was made for vehicles. so when you move, you move like a vehicle. but i think that would be OK, jsut a little more programming

i think that this will be cool, but i would love to hear some opinion on the matter. i know some people will hate this idea, but i personally think it will be cool. if you read carefully, every error of this idea ive come up with an answer to. but again, opinions would be great.

Well, I gotta say, this isn't just some random idea, you've actually given some thought to it. Good Job! Anyway, I like the idea from one perspective, but from another perspective, it would, like you said, take away the classicness of the game. Here's an interesting note though: Aubrey is supposedly planning an "android" vehicle type for syn3h. I saw a picture of it a little while ago, it's like a robotic suit with a space helmet on. So that's whats goin' on!
see ya,

He supposedly abandoned the android model and requested people with character modeling skills to try help him :P. Unfortunately it doesn't seem to be a high priority on his list of stuff to do for Syn3h.

Aww. What about the vehicle that is actually a bunch of little robots, creating one big robot. Similar to a school of fish.

This idea sounds really great!  I think though there might be some problems that arise from the whole "lasers shooting people" thing, but I'm sure that everything can work out right?
It's a great idea.

Aubrey has repeatedly refused to even think of this idea several times. Humanoid creatures just aren't going to be in Marsxplr of Syn3h at any point in time, sorry.

I remember I suggested this once on a post about vehicle suggestions...
I heard Aubrey was gonna do something called an Android, as someone mentioned, it's sad to hear he's abandoned the idea. That's one of the only reasons I was excited for Syn3h.

AcerBoy,

It is a good idea, and although I am basically repeating what everyone else has said, it has been declared a "no" by Aubrey. It is a fun idea, and I do like the change of perspectives in your post. Personally, (and I think Aubrey would agree with me on this) I think that the hand-to-hand-combat is a BIG negative. Mars Explorer and Syn3h are supposed to be nonviolent games, and hand-to-hand-combat would change that. I could understand the idea of people "fighting" if they had laser guns and could exchange the Quarry. However, once a player ditched their vehicle, would the person or the vehicle become the Quarry? Also, what would happen if someone was run over by a buggy or tank? Would they "die"? They shouldn't because Mars is supposed to be nonviolent, but what would happen?

Those are just questions that may lead to confusion regarding this topic. You may use them to expand upon your post, or you may leave it as is. It is good either way.

Ffroggy,

I did manage to find the picture, but because it has been declared a "no", I don't quite understand why it is still in the Syn3h pictures website.

There are multiple pictures of it on the website, but here is one of them:
"Android"

Why do you think it is still in his notebook? There are Multiple versions of this in different colours, and doing various things. Strange that it is still there when it has been declared a "no" for Mars and Syn3h.

Hey Apophis,
maybe he just hasn't taken the trouble to remove it. There are a lot of other old pictures in the picassa album too.

Since this post has gotten a definite "No," it should be hidden/resolved.

(4/3)πr^3(ACC-Yoshi),

Your name is fun to write out. Lol.

For the topic of this post being hidden/resolved, I disagree with your decision. I think that this post is getting a lot of the same response, but there is some discussion about interesting topics relating to this issue and ironing out problems that might arise. I personally, think that if we iron out all of the idea kinks, we might actually have an idea worthy of being presented to Aubrey. Think about it.

If we can come up with enough answers to the problems, have a very definite and precise ideas, and maybe a prototype model or two, I think that this idea could become something that could be implemented into the game. This would only work if enough people went along with the idea, but I think that so far, we have a good start.

An example of this is shown in Achilles' post:
Achilles' Post
This post said that he requested people to HELP HIM. Why would he have done that if he KNEW that the idea would have no promise? He WOULDN'T. That shows that the idea has promise, and if we can iron out the kinks, it has a chance of being implemented.

To see that this idea does NOT have a definite "no", please look at Ffroggy's post:
Ffroggy's Post

Also, you can look at Saychi's post:
Saychi's Post

Those two people like the idea, and both posts prove that it is not a DEFINITE "no". Maybe the majority says no, but quite a few people, including me, think that this idea shows some promise.

This actually looks like a promising idea, even though Aubrey has said "no" or "maybe down the road". I am looking at the "maybe down the road" and that is what I think we could aim for: strong, solid ideas, that can make this an idea that can be implemented "maybe down the road".

So, Yoshi, in answer to your comment, I think that this post should not be hidden/resolved, because I think that it still holds some promise of being implemented "maybe down the road" into Mars (or more likely Syn3h)

Sincerely,

Apophis
