Some of us like to compose music. Fortunately, some of us are decent at it, lol :P
Music can set a theme for our worlds. It also adds new motivation and excitement to try out and explore someone's world. I request that there be a button in the players' game settings where you can toggle the standard songs along with the specific world's song(s) on and off. I don't know how Aubrey could devise such a thing, but it should be possible :D
Tell me what you think,
Eric

That's actually a pretty good idea. If you notice, my whirld has music, but the regular game music also plays over the top of it unless you turn it off, and it's either have the music I added, or no sound at all, you can't just turn off the music.

This could probably be done.
The problem is though, most worlds will probably not have music made for them, so that function might not actually be used much.
Also, having custom music for a world will dramatically increase filesize, and therefore go for more lag too :/

What we could have is a playlist for ALL worlds, and we could choose to listen to whatever songs we want. I already listen to music while dogfighting, but it gets annoying when I have to change songs over YouTube in the middle of a dogfight.

I just use iTunes on shuffle...

Have you made a YouTube playlist (if you have an account)? Do you have an extra set of speakers in the room with your computer? If so, try hooking up a MP3 player or whatever (if you have one). Just a couple of ideas.

Hm. Sounds interestin'.

There is actually a world in existance that has custom music. It's a bit complicated, but I believe it involves putting a sound into your scene, attaching it to a model, then inputting the music into the sound. -BluetoothBoy- also has a world with a robotic voice speaking before a transport leaves, and in the screenshots, he has a sound gizmo on the transport. It's already been done, the question is...
how?

Adding a sound in Whirld is no different that adding one in Unity, the player just can't control the volume, whether the music plays or not, etc. in the game.

Yes! Music creating could be part of mars explorer! I'd so get on that, add some dubstep that I've made... sweet.
Alright someone needs to ask Aubrey to add this into the game!

What a wonderful idea, Eric.
A music integrated world...hmm..
This reminds me of a little racetrack in Mario Kart 7. And the writing of "Mario Kart7" reminds me of...Mario Kart 7. Every racetrack has a little...theme song that somehow goes with the track's theme. Mario's song is Mario's track. Luigi's Mansion is the song from the game, Luigi's Mansion. And so forth. Just wanted to get that out...
Back to subject, perhaps a future update in Syn3h that will give control to intergrated music and/or self-intergrated music. OOH. Perhaps some code where the world's..."movements" could be controlled to the self-intergrated music....
XD

lol! I could get to work on that and bring here as well. I will look for some things to use and i'll try and put it together when I am able to put it together on here. I'll have to look up a thing on here so I can share it though.
I'll get to work then and see what music i'll get from it. :)

What the heck did you just say, Chamberlain o.O? I have no clue what you're talking about. The most descriptive words you said were "I," "thing," "things," "it," "that," and "here."
If you'll excuse me, I'm going to go use that thing over there by that place, but I have to do something first. :) *lol* :P
» Reply to CommentRe: Whirld Request: Music Incorporation
lol I see what you mean. :P I didn't realize that until now, so thanks for bringing that up.
I have to look for ( idk what ) something that will let me put parts of sounds and music together ( such as garageband or some type of other thing like it... :P ) and then I can record other sounds and music and delete any unwanted or add onto it if I want to.
Sorry, I forgot I was talking to other people. I was typing what I was saying in my head and that was really only mean't for me. So, i'll get back to the thing that I was on and work on that thing until I figure out some other thing to do. XD :P

I support this idea.
I think we should be able to make our own playlists, though.
No iTunes.

I love music almost as much as I love Syn3h, and I have long been planning a deeper relationship between the two.
I am currently experimenting with on-demand music streaming services such as Grooveshark, deeper integration with user's music libraries on mobile and desktop devices, and the ability for Whirld designers to specify several different audio tracks that can be blended between to create a unique reactive soundscape for each world. (Flight, high speed, ambience, taking fire, just became quarry, etc).
» Reply to CommentRe: Whirld Request: Music Incorporation
Cool! Will it be included in Syn3h or Whirld anytime soon?
» Reply to CommentRe: Whirld Request: Music Incorporation
I think this is a great idea really, being able to switch through different songs, and to specify the music you want when you design a world would be awesome, and even more awesome if the music changes automatically in accordance to the circumstances!

So custom music AND custom music for events inside a game?! That's amazingly hard to pull off, is it not?! :D
» Reply to CommentRe: Whirld Request: Music Incorporation
I agree with Ender about the no iTunes.
As for what Aubrey said, I agree with that as well.

Aubrey!!! Your back!!

0_o Nice idea.
I like change. Regardless of the exception quality of the current music, it does get repetitive.

Very repetitive.
If music where to be changeable like suggested, I would make so many songs...

Ive already started working on some music. I hope to share it soon. :)

@Aubrey: I disagree. Like I said before, iTunes would be a great idea...only if you wrote some code to make the things in the world move with the..."beat" of the music.
@Cav: Aubrey was never gone. He was always here. It's just that he is covered with tasks to do involving Syn3h.
@Ace: Please remove the exclamation marks in your name. It's kinda annoying.

I think its best if we don't use itunes because, the whole code thing isn't right.
» Reply to CommentRe: Whirld Request: Music Incorporation
Why the heck would we use Itunes to begin with?!
» Reply to CommentRe: Whirld Request: Music Incorporation
IKR!
» Reply to CommentRe: Whirld Request: Music Incorporation
I would have trouble using iTunes because it uses a significant amount of RAM and processing power to run, creating lag when I use Mars.
» Reply to CommentRe: Whirld Request: Music Incorporation
That's great to hear that there will be some sort of in-game music incorporation! I hope the music industry of Syn3h thrives.
@PocketMAD
Aubrey did not say anything about using iTunes; Ender did :P Aubrey said that he is experiementing with on-demand music streaming services (not iTunes).
» Reply to CommentRe: Whirld Request: Music Incorporation
Actually, Ffroggy said about using iTunes.
And I agree; that will be wonderful.
» Reply to CommentRe: Whirld Request: Music Incorporation
Oh....heh heh heh...
» Reply to CommentRe: Whirld Request: Music Incorporation
@Chamberlin, what program(s) are you using?
» Reply to CommentRe: Whirld Request: Music Incorporation
I just use Speed MP3 Downloader, which allows me to (Legally) download whatever music i want for free. Then, since its automatically is WMV format, i just use windows Media Player on repeat
» Reply to CommentRe: Whirld Request: Music Incorporation
@Abister: Im using garage band type stuff and im also using something else. Im using the media player as well and if theres anything that sounds good to me, I pick it out and look to see if I want to use it.
Nothing much really, I guess?
» Reply to CommentRe: Whirld Request: Music Incorporation
Garage band is the ONLY reason why I'd get a mac.
» Reply to CommentRe: Whirld Request: Music Incorporation
Install Mac OS on your PC? It's possible, you know, just a little difficult, and your sound card might not support it....Look into it.
» Reply to CommentRe: Whirld Request: Music Incorporation
Mac OS sucks dude. Linux is where it's at!
» Reply to CommentRe: Whirld Request: Music Incorporation
Question! CURRENTLY, how can I add custom music to a world? This has only ever been done before in two worlds as far as I know, but does anyone know how it was actually done?
» Reply to CommentRe: Whirld Request: Music Incorporation
I would try google for that one.
» Reply to CommentRe: Whirld Request: Music Incorporation
The good thing is that Linux can be installed on a dedicated drive... so i might put that in one of the two computers i'm planing on getting. One is the Alienware 3D custom laptop and one is a desktop (Which i may or may not make myself). I haven't seen a Mars Explorer/ Syn3h download for Linux, but I'm sure Aubrey is working on that.
» Reply to CommentRe: Whirld Request: Music Incorporation
DUDE! I had no idea you had HEARD of linux! :D
Anyways, Aubrey can't do anything about that. Unity is just not compatible with Linux at this point. :(

Its not? Ouch
» Reply to CommentRe: Whirld Request: Music Incorporation
It is, if you like lots of glitches and near inplayability. . . . Check out the WINE project (Pretty sure it's still called that on Linux) and you can run it, just glitchily. For more info, see this post.
