Your title was dramatic, but I like the idea. I will protest and stop all contact with martians and CCians (is that a word?) for 24 hours as of tomorrow. Everyone, please participate. NO ACTIVITY ON THE FORUMS FOR 24 HOURS PLEASE.
I'm in total support of this. It is a bit of a slightly dramatic title (maybe a fewer capital letters and exclamation points, and new players won't think you're a noob)
you know that if Abister heard it most likely Aubrey will know about. If Wikipedia does it Aubrey is sure to know about it. I like the idea because I already have enough restrictions at school as it is.>:(
Please remember that shutting down is not good enough. The website has to be replaced with an anti PIPA/SOPA message, and ideally there should be a link to easily email your congressmen about it.
I don't care whether it's considered spamming, but how about a bunch of people write posts about sopa being stopped, like:
"SOPA administrator people (whatever you want to call those guys), we don't know if you are seeing this, but we would like you to not take down this site." etc.
I came across this thread while stopping by the forums before shutting down everything today. It was a nice confirmation for my own inclinations towards the action. In case you missed it, the blackout page can still be enjoyed at: MarsXPLR.com/user/blackout
Sorry things have been so quiet of late, I've mostly just been trying to figure out life enough to make the most of it. I don't want to tease anyone with what may be just around the corner for Syn3h, because my biggest incentive to release cool stuff is the appreciation everyone has for it. I'd hate to extract that appreciation from anyone when it isn't yet fully deserved, so a real status update will have to wait a bit longer. Syn3h is far from dead, it will be released in due time, and I can almost guarantee it will be more awesome that you are expecting.
Fear not for this community, we are strong. It's a tremendous encouragement to me every time I stop by to see the wonderful new things many of you have created, and the positive attitude that generally pervades. I've been little more than a ghost for at least six months, but despite the occasional squabble, things are running quite well. Good work, everyone.
Not to rush you, but Plexpedia really needs some new mods. Half of the ones on this website have either left, or are mostly inactive. So when Syn3h is released, will you be adding a few new mods to Mars Explorer or Plexpedia?
This shouldn't be resolved. The strike may be over, but SOPA and PIPA are far from being over.
The senate votes in five days, this should stay up until the fate of the internet is decided.
I guess so, but it's not like everyone one the internet is going to spontaneously die the very milisecond this bill is passed. It's a huge deal, but it's not like the world's gonna end or anything. The post was mars-related until yesterday. Now it's only about SOPA. We all know about SOPA and PIPA, so this should therefore be resolved, because it's not mars-related anymore. just my 2 cents I guess.
The "Resolved" state was created specifically for questions which had been answered - it is perfectly fine to let general information threads gradually fade into the past through the chronological ordering system.
There's nothing wrong with allowing posts to run a natural course of visiblity, rather than banishing them to the desolate lands of "Resolved" the minute that they are no longer directly applicable to the situation at hand.
Anyways, there is still a chance it can get passed. Do you not know about our government? If the president vetoes a law, then congress can still pass it with a 2/3 vote, which they may or may not have. There are still 5 days to go.
It's kind of complicated. A bill is made in the House of Represenatives or the Senate. Both need to agree on the bill, then it is passed to the president. They still haven't both agreed on it, so it hasn't been sent to the president. The voting day is in 5 days.
Doesn't matter if the people don't like it, Congress and the other governments can pass laws without us knowing or voting.
Example: This new years was interrupted by the notice of Obama passing a law that if the government doesn't like what you say you can be put STRAIGHT to jail. No court. A LAW!
It maybe against the constitution, but what the supreme court says its ok then it's forced on us.
That's...bias yourself. But democrats are the bad part of the government. To me because they were the one who first introduced it, asked for it, and demanded it.
I used to be a Democrat... but now im completely confused because, everyone trying to become President... aren't good. So, im now Independent. It makes a lot of sense actually.
This should absolutely not be resolved. We need to stay aware of these awful bills, one of which might try to still sneak its way into passing as an earmark on a child protection bill.
This is complete crap! Watch how many protests will happen if they pass it! Probably while they are voting, there will be people protesting. It's complete patheticness!
Well... It says in the picture that there was an error on a different page and sometimes that can effect the one your looking at.
(Random) also in your picture, you typed in the google search bar " Do a barrel roll " which means you probably seen that on Facebook and you just had to look it up. :P
And your looking for free Boba Fett stuff. I don't know. :P
The bill WILL be reopened, maybe a different bill like pirating only, then it will add to, games, then music in the background, then finally freedom of speech and expression.
They wouldn't be able to create jobs, which would lead to higher unemployment, which would lead to a poor population, which would lead to inadequate education, which would allow those same congressmen to pass SOPA/PIPA with people just saying "ok cool sounds nice."
If the government didnt have so much more money, it would lead more jobs since the government takes a lot out of taxes it would lead to us having more money=more jobs.
I try to post most things objectively. I do not wish to start arguments. I typically side with conservatives, but I wouldn't label myself as a member of any particular party.
I'm a liberal. Honestly though, there are both liberals and conservatives on both sides of SOPA. It looks to be about 50/50. This does not factor in.
The important thing is that there are polititians who go against the needs of their constituency for a few bucks. The definition of corruption right there. That is what needs to be fixed.
I am personally a conservative democrat. It seems like this bill is basically an excuse for congress to work on something other than the important stuff.
Oh, I agree highly! That always happens anymore and that's why so many people lose their jobs because, they keep cutting and cutting and billing and billing! You think common sense would come to mind and say " Hey, this isn't right! "
Sometimes I think they try so hard to make people mad anymore... mission accomplished! Can you move on and help our country now?!?!
Instead of pushing away our major problems, they should bring every major problem first, before worrying about something so small and so dumb. They should start actually thinking about what IS good for American citizens and not government it's self.
They need to stop going against our Constitution! Follow it! We have it for a reason and that is because, " The Articles Of Confederation " of course wasn't going to work because, no one was willing to actually help out.
Feels like it again over 200 years later, but this time, it's only congress. Our country is wanting to help, but it keeps getting voted down. Enough already!
Guys guys. Since politics is related to this post, I will converse with some stuff.
The green party, in my opinion, is the best. Along with the form of labor: Libertarianism. However, I am confused with what my political philosophies are. Conservative or liberalism?
Green Party!!! You must be Canadian!!
:D
Well, some people say the green movement is with the democrats. Obama killed keystone XL....it was a good thing to do(3 million homes's water were compromised with a spill in Nebreska. )
Anyway, I would vote democrat in USA, green or NDP in Canada
