Please, if you encounter a bug, send a bug report using the inbuilt bug report feature (don't change anything before sending it!) This will allow me to get all of the status data, along with what happened. If, after that, you wish to also leave a comment, be my guest :) I read both.

Is there a way you can opt out of allowing your worlds to be melded without permission? This may be too much to ask, though.

Perhaps if we manually inserted some special text into the .utw file (like a comment so it would not corrupt the data), that would basically tell the Melder to refuse to meld the file?

Personally I have no objection with my worlds being melded, so long as people don't start claiming ownership for the world, but that function would be useful to those who do mind...

A very good question! :)

add:

{DoNotMeld; 0;0;0}

or

{DoNotMeld; 0;0;0;}

to your world. (Whichever doesn't cause errors)

When you are building your world, you can just name any object DoNotMeld.

The melder will refuse to meld it :)

In next week's release, I will add client-side support for not allowing melds like that

Hey Flynn... Is this made in Unity 3? Because I'm getting the same "fatal content error" as I always get whenever I try to open webplayer content made in Unity 3...
This is normal actually, content made in Unity 3 requires a newer version of the Unity web player to run, and it just so happens that that newer version is not compatible with my prehistoric computer. :P So just wondering, is it really made in Unity 3 or am I experiencing some othe problem?

Oh dear.... I am very sorry to hear that. Yes, this is a problem with U3 :(

Are you positive you can't upgrade your webplayer? :(

Yup. :( Will it work if you build a mac standalone of it, or can it only function in-browser?

@Flynn: Awesome. I don't have that much of a problem with people melding my worlds (as long as they let me know,) but I'm sure not everyone will.

@Pancakes: Buy a PC, or better yet, buy a computer and put linux on it!

Just as webplayer can do things that standalone can't, standalone can do things that webplayer can't :( Without Cooperation from Aubrey, a webplayer version will not happen again

Specifically, mars explorer website does not have a valid cross domain policy, which prevents webplayers from connecting to it without the use of JS hacks (which I have expressly petitioned against now) making a webplayer impossible. Apps are not required to follow cross domain policies and are therefore immune. Aubrey would be required to add a valid cross domain policy to his website.

I found a really wierd (and fun) glitch!

First load Pancake's Sports World.
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/14210843/Pancakes%27%20Worlds/Sports/Whirld.utw

Then load any block world. You can use this one:
http://www.geiodo.com/worlds/martian_town3.utw

Then load the Preview.

After that, move the camera around (make sure your volume is up enough so wou hear the music).

When moving the camera, it does some weird effect to the music!

Sorry, but no video, i couldn't record the sound.

WHAT IS THIS THANG? I DON'T GET IT... IT'S TO ADVANCED FOR ME!

It marges block worlds with terrain worlds. A block world is the kind of world with the orange dirt textured circular ground and gray hexaconal-textured blocks. Block worlds have simple text data that say what kind of block, the size, and where it is.
"Terrain" worlds are the kind of worlds where you have a colorful terrain with mountains and hills and stuff. These worlds use a separate assets file (Assets.unity3d) which stores the data like terrain, textures, objects, etc.
Terrain worlds are advanced. Block worlds are basic.

A mars explorer world ends in ".utw". If the world is a terrain world, it would have a line of text pointing to a file called "Assets.unity3d" in the same folder which has all the fancy data. The block world data is stored in the .utw file. So how the world melder works is it takes the block data from the block world and adds it to the .utw file of the terain world so you get both the blocks from the block world and the terrains and assets from the terrain world.

To use it, insert a URL of a block world and the URL of a terrain world. An example of a terrain world is Unity Island, and an example of a block world is Fort Boxy. Try mixing those two together.

You can get the URLs of maps in Mars Explorer. In the "Host Game" menu, sleect the world you want, then go to the Custom World tab and check "Use Custom World". You will see the name and URL of the map you selected. Copy the URL.

It seems that dropbox worlds don't work anymore :( So you probably have to use other URLs like geiodo and papawheely like the ones used in Mars Explorer.
