Any modellers out there?

I have been looking through all the (well maybe not all but a fair number) creation posts and have seen some amazing designs of vehicles and of course maps/worlds. Although I have seen many wonderful and incredibly detailed models........the subject of character modelling does not arise frequently enough if at all.

So, here is my proposition. Have an ongoing thread for a 'competition' to create the best model that 'could potentionally' be the face (and body) of the players of mars explorer.

This model/design could be made with sketchup, blender or any other modelling program. I would also warmly accept sketches (either hand drawn or computer generated).

So, to clarify, design a character that could potentially be sat behind the wheel of the buggy, like Link to The Legend of Zelda or the cyborg/human woman in Portal........in essence, it has to be 'The Player'.

Heck, you can make a model of Marvin the Martian if you like.

EDIT 16/8/12: Although I have not come back from my holiday yet I have noticed that there has been no action on this post for the past two days so I decided to post the standing results now:

I don't get it... What's the point in taking the time to model these... You want this implemented in the game?

Aubrey has already said many times there will never be people in Mars Explorer or in Syn3h.

ThePancakes was not a "hater", he was just delivering contructive critisism. I agree with most of ThePancakes' points, but I think he should have been less harsh in the delivery.

Does just a head count? I made this model a while ago.

It was never actually meant to be a head, hence the very strange shape... I was just playing around deforming a sphere and after several deformations, purely coincidentally, I ended up with something that looked like a face! So I improved it a bit, and I got this :)

I believe this is an excellent oportunity for me to spam a modelling post with my achievements in Blender rendering, even though they are not actual characters. :)

These are nice renders.....but I agree that it would be nice if in future you can add a picture to the comment rather than a link....;D. Thank you though....I like seeing any models but obviously I would much prefer the characters. :)

It is a highly rare species, belonging to the MRC (Moronic Red Creature) family! The latin name for this species is "Moronicus Abilis", and therefore I lovingly named this creature "Moronicus Maximus" (you can call him Max). :)

Lamp. What I would recomend to you is draw a rectangle on the ground, (or to save time you could just draw it in one of the axis) use the push pull tool to raise it to the hight you want your person, then draw the stickman on a face of the cuboid when he is draw, you can use the push pull tool to push the extra edges away

Hi.....I'm back from holiday now!!!! Yay!!!

Now back to work......lol......on the journey home I modelled a head.......I have decided to call it '?????? the Space Police Pig'......Although he has no body I know what the finished version will look like......This is just the head......I will texture this then do the body........! (more images to come therefore)

Hi everyone......The votes have been trickling in and hopefully will continue to do so until September 6th when I will stop this batch of polls and announce the winners!

Lol! Thanks a lot PC!!! The groundhog was made with a tutorial.......I started learning blender a month and a bit ago and was just messing around and then I found a brilliant website calld CGCookie (hence the link I put on my last comment)....It has lots of tutorials and things and helped me learn really fast! If anyone wants to learn blender.....I would highly recommend blendercookie.com !
