Hello, everyone! It's been quite a night tonight, hasn't it...
 
 
I am pleased to announce that Build 3 of Mars Explorer 3.0 is complete and ready for early players who want to get a taste! :)
 
 
This version is 100% rudimentary. It's ONLY goal was to get the networking system converted off to the Unity Default. This is just temporary, but we needed SOME platform to do testing.
 
Whether or not we will be switching the networking system over away from Unity's built-in will be decided by YOU, the community, as well as the committee. If you are interested in joining the committee, or tracking progress on the project, here is the link for more info!

And, of course, if you do not have time or space to download Mars 3.0, you can simply gaze at some screenshots :)

SUMMARY:
 
Since last version:
Known Bugs:
  • Wheels on buggy invisible (Eric)
  • Wheels on tank render strangely (Etah)
  • Shaders from worlds made for Unity 2 do not render properly on Unity 3. No fix is known. (Flynn)
  • Game freezes upon unloading an asset bundled whirld file
  • When chatting, one must click the game to regain control of their vehicle (Etah)
  • No lava can be seen (Aperover)
  • Whirld text files are not being loaded by the 3.0 Whirld importer.  This may be the cause of many aforementioned or undermentioned. (Numerous)
  • World spawn points are not used.
Features:
  • No new features, sorry!
Changes:
  • Mars Explorer converted to Unity 3 (Aubrey)
  • Networking system updated to a Unity 3 compatible master server (Flynn)
 
Coming soon:
  • (Possibly) a new networkign system.
  • (Definitely) a temporary test vehicle, just for the fun of making a test vehicle. Will be removed however.
  • (Definitely) a system for reporting bugs and suggesting new features

I am almost crying an cursing my prehistoric computer that would not let me be part of this awesome project. :P

I really do wish you could help, pancakes :( Oh well, I am sure there are places where, like you say, vehicle modeling can be done :) I hope you get a new computer sometime soon!

I love the work you guys are doing, keep it up? I do have the question of cussing tolerance... what do you think it should be, cuz people can side swipe it soooo easily... i need your guys opinion

Bug: Xorbs can't move.
Description: For moving the xorbs you can only direct them from side to side and that barely happens at all. You can't tell the Xorb to go forward at all.

Unfortunately, I could not recreate your bug, my xorbs are working fine, other than the fact that they are ginormous pink.... oh god just horrible.
 
 
Can you spare any details, maybe contact me on skype and show it to me in person?

Huh, that's weird.
So I can't move the xorb forward at all, and then I go out of fullscreen and back in and it starts moving just fine.
 
And to me the xorb isn't pink, it's textured only the texture doesn't move like in Mars 2.22.

How. Very. Odd! You know it may have to do with our rendering settings come to think of it... Let me have a second looksee
 
 
Also, At the fullscreen, that is probably what caused it, I do not use fullscreen in the editor (I actually CAN'T use it in the editor). Noted, and thankyou! :)

So this new mars can play coloplura and all those unity 3 worlds?

Oh btw once in a world (space shuttle like world) I was in a biome and I was in the water and in the water.l.

I saw the reflection of my arrow for the minimap

Each vehicle has an arrow. It is invisible to the driving camera and only visible to the minimap. It is also visible in some types of water.
