Completed body! Includes a futuristic bridged "H" frame design; detailed, animated treads; and incorporates several design ideas by FlyClub for making it look even cooler
New intelligent tracks that pivot easily over terrain, but resist angular rotation when hill climbing to help you stick to incredibly steep faces without being ratcheted off
Slightly more power
Buggy:
Completely re-engineered handling, including everything from new a new wheel slip model to smart suspension that automatically lowers it's CG at high speeds
New fine tuned mesh based collision model for ultimate crash and vehicle to vehicle collision fun

Easier takeoffs and smoother wallriding
Automatic "landing gear" retraction during flight, which makes the buggy look way more streamlined while sailing through the skies
Cooler looking, smoother cockpit
Enhanced flight physics, which should now be completely framerate and rendering quality level independent
Beautiful skid marks
New server physics controls for smart suspension and shock damping aggressiveness
Hovercraft:
Revised hovercraft physics are now finished!
New server physics controls for hover height, hover height aggressiveness, terrain repulsion, and engine thrust

Laser speed control
General:
Better vehicle collision detection, including the ability to tag players with your buggy's wings
(Hopefully) even less application crashes than previous versions
Cooler server entry sequence, with the starfield background staying aligned as you transfer from list mode to game mode
I love the flight! I switch back and forth between Simple (extremely agile) and Good (smooth, stable and easy to aim sniper laser) It's like 1.91 if you want which was my favorite version for flight agility.
Truly stupendous!
I love the wall crawling! It's crazy-fun! So much has changed with driving that I just can't make a useful description of what may be needed. Sorry Aubrey.
Thanks so much for listening to us about faster lasers. I just had one of the very best dogfights ever with known game disrupters being evicted before they could even utter one offensive or distracting word. What a thrill to play this version!
So many great features in the Host panel! It's like a big pile of Birthday presents.
Two suggestions/requests;
1. Would you make air to ground (both buggies) register green laser tags more reliably? Ground to air works perfectly, as does ground to ground and air to air, the latter almost perfectly.
2. Please consider making buggy to buggy rams register via a "Ramosphere" field around the quarry buggy to register rams within an adjustable distance outside the buggy body?
Ram games are becoming popular and they really sharpen flying skill but are nearly impossible with these speeds and such a tiny target.
Don't worry, the new lower buggy wheel friction is certainly not finalized - I was just tweaking tons of different parameters to see how well I could get the buggy to handle at high speeds.
I am starting to think the buggy should have just a bit more static friction by default, but I would love to hear everyone's opinion.
Perhaps and ultraadvanced mode where one can change each and every variable associated with the buggy physics, including - maybe - having separate control over the scripts in all the wheels of the buggy?
In which case, you can do your experimentations, and then publish your physics as presets, but let us have complete control over what kind of buggy we own :P
Yes, overcomplicated, and very hard. I don't expect it to happen, but it would be nice.
Lol we can call it "Operation NoobSlayer". (nonoobs for short)
Just so no one gets mad at me im not saying i think there shouldnt be new players, just that thats what an ultraadvanced version to that extent will be
Flying seems to be... different you could say. I am not sure what but something is different about it, maybe it is more fast.... idk. Also driving is kinda weird. Like the server settings even though I still dont understand what some of them do lol. As dane said it will be a major change.
Im so happy right now. I have not yet played so i can't give a real thought but i truly thank you for listening to my ideas. It makes me really happy. Thank you.
I've just played 1.9.7 for a while and i was almost brought to tears. for now all i have for an opinion other than perfect is that there should maybe be some more freedom to the lava alt control. And also i can't quite figure out what lava fog really does...It doesnt seem to show any difference on my screen. Thank you so much.
Personally the flight if iffy.... I find it rather dislikable, can it maybe me an option which buggy prefab is spawned? As in, we can get 1.9.1 buggy, 1.1 buggy, 1.9.4 buggy, 1.9.6 buggy etcetera. And also could we have the option of choosing between the different versions of lava?
If we could choose to incorporate older buggies, and other features, then, the game would be so perfect I can not even begin to describe it. Another complicated idea (due to the fact adjustable physics would have to change each time; (then again if you were to use universal variables for things like the buggy, then depending upon the mode, the game would not respond to other parameters set.
Crazy boy! Have you been to the older versions lately? Each time a new version comes out, the old ones become worse and worse. Personally i jsut change the buggy cg to -0.3 and its all good. I like the new buggy. Thanks for the info on the lava fog.
First of all I would like to say, great job on 1.9.7
the wait was well worth it, I've had a sincere blast tonight
The Tank is finally finished (even though I don't use it, I was nice and let others use it)
The Buggy is great, I enjoy flying it to the most
I will however say that wall driving and wing drive are somewhat rough, and not smooth like you said
I will patiently wait for that issue to be fixed
no real changes to the hover except for customizable physics, thank you
Laser speed is great, exactly what I was expecting, I should have known simple physics would have come into play; The faster an object, the longer distance that object will go.
When you jack up laser speed, it's like having sniper laser, without the aim or color :-)
I do enjoy the new opening sequence into the game
I also enjoy the lava altitude and fog control, that creates many options for many types of different games
I have not had a crash as of yet on 1.9.7
I will say these two things
Lasers still do not pick up when you are flying, and shoot somebody on the ground
They do not pick up air to ground, please fix that, I beg you.
Also, the sea monster can get very disorienting, please add some texture in it, please?
And an idea
Lava waves wouldn't hurt anything would they? And if you do add them, make it a server setting on how agresive they are
Other than that,
Great beta version, and a definite step in the right direction
Dude forgot to say to add wind :P Just kidding. I really like the idea of lava waves or at least for an animation of when lava level rises. -Points into distance- "TSUNAMIIII!!!!!!"
More importantly...Whats with fox holes man??? Looks like its on back burner and its getting pretty cold...Personally i say that when flyclub finishes his level, get rid of the current foxholes and replace it with flyclubs. Fox holes? I see no fox's or holes. At least flu club has holes...and not just any holes, TUNNELS!
As for the hover...I dont exactly get the difference between 'hover' and 'height', and im also not sure what repulsion does :P Oh baba...
And lets see...Oh yea. The buggy's a jet!!! Even looks like one now! The shocks need some work...Either I'm jostled around like I'm riding a bull or I'm driving like there's an earthquake. I think that's it...Thank you!
Aubrey, thanks for listening to us! Those pics of water in your link and the You Tube link from there are very nice indeed. Great to hear about a target size extension "bubble". (I like the name"Ramosphere") babaG, who is one of the game's absolute top flyers is an "artist" that rams only and I believe he will be happiest of all about this. :) Would you consider some wall collision physics or at least more natural action when the driving or flying buggy touches or crashes the surface? It's frustrating to lose one's "total flapped investment" in speed by simply touching something and being stopped from 180 MPH. Some players are not responding (but without the old sign below their vehicle) when host computer gets overloaded past about 5 players per server.
I must say that the feature that stands out as the very best as far as increasing playing fun is the evict button. After a whole year of being distracted and insulted and spammed and vehicle-change-button-tortured on a DAILY BASIS , we finally have a tall fence between us game players and the "rowdyneighbors". lol! Plus, we can keep our games public to "troll" for friends and quality players instead of going private.
Pobre Cito about your connection speed Aubrey. Spiffy! Dude! baba! Dane! Dash! Igiz! What's say we head out to Aub'z place for a weekend and lay an Ethernet cable and some booster boxes to Aubrey's tree house? Meh! Donuts and orange soda for all! Peach soda for bab'z. :)
Fly club told me what lava fog did, i thought it would be like a cool fog centering right about the lava but its just in the lava itself... Aw well. For me, the load time is far longer, no idea why.
Adjustable vehicle collision "bubbles" are definitely in the works
The buggy's brake model isn't quite finished yet - behaviour like being able to hang in mid air or not decelerate at all when wings are deployed is a glitch that will be fixed
I am really looking forward to Lava waves as well! They're just complicated to implement, and require a high end computer to enjoy properly :) Once I save up enough to purchase Unity Pro, technology like this will be right around the corner...
BabaG: The buggy shocks should be working great - unless you have then set to minimum in the server physics settings, in which case they turn your car into a jumping bean on purpose to generate a little humor :)
Just play with the hovercraft a bit, and all the settings should begin to make sense - hint: thanks to several of these new parameters, the latest hovercraft is much better at not flying off into space when crashing into hills at super high speeds
Height is the target altitude to hover at
Hover is the magnitude of the force used to mantain that height
Repulsion is the magnitude of a special force used when the hovercraft's internal logic determines that it is just about to slam into a hill
Thrust is the magnitude of the force used to accelerate your craft
"Complete (physics) control over vehicles" is something that I am very much excited about as well, but don't look forward to it in the near future. If anything, expect to see it when Mars Explorer enters the next stage of it's development; where users can build their own vehicles in-game using parameterized components and stardard sensor packages - program the vehicles to autonomously complete a variety of missions, and then compete in the missions against their own robots and other (human and robotic) players. It would be something like a simulated "Mindstorms" robotics kit; with the added bonuses of being completley free, being able to instantly share your designs with all your friends, and being capable of simulating anything from a simple maze following competition to a Grand Challenge or RoboCode style melee...
Air to ground lasers will definitley be fixed - thanks for the heads up
Sea monster certainly isn't completed yet :)
Custom maps will be great fun! As soon as I get a chance (I unfortunatley have been even more busy than usual of late), I will release a new buggy source code package. Once everyone has tested and tweaked their worlds with the latest buggy, I will probably be adding many of them to the game
You ain't seen lag 'till you've seen satellite internet :)
Bubbles? Im just happy to have wing ram back! But thats cool too :P Good bye to levitating, lava skimming and all else :( I suppose as the game evolves it needs to become more realistic and professional. The old things like volcano blasts and levitating in mid air and lava skimming get replaced by new and better things right?...right? right??? I Hope so at least. One of the things that makes this game great, i think the best thing, is the freedom of it. You can do whatever you want! That includes finding new glitches and such. It may be worth it too leave some of that stuff in, even adding new 'secrets' to it. I think that thats what many players want. Sure, it's cool to be able to control your blasts with the gravity control but it takes away from the mystery factor of the game. Yea i figured waves would be a bit tough...Oh well. As for the shocks, they work just fine when set in the middle but when you set to either extreme they dont act 'as expected' i should say :) Even more humorous would be a bouncing buggy that would bounce like a jack rabbit when shocks are set up way high. Thanks for the Hovercraft explanations. I like the idea of customizable everything's but just keep in mind the simple factor. You need a good balance of simple and easy to play as compared to a bit confusing but you can get the exact results you want. In which case i'm glad you have both a slider bar and the 'program box' for settings. Also, I don't know how good of an idea that is just yet. You would have super tanks running around blasting everyone with turbo lasers and wings to less. Besides that, lets say fly club made an awesome level but then everyone else made 80 terrible ones, how would i find the needle in the hay stack? Well, i think thats all i have to say. Thank you!
I found one other glitch :( when i close text box, i cant switch camera views and i cant open/close wings past what they were when i closed the text box.
This is by far the best version yet. The drifting is incredible. It is better than almost all of the drifting games for gaming consoles. That includes games like Mario Kart and Need For Speed.
I find it strange how when you go any lower than good the buggy changes COMPLETLY. Its a whole different buggy. Because of my bad fps I can't go to good. The flying in simple is very strange and I am not getting used to it and probably never will. Some people may like it but I HATE it. I would like if all the different qualitys give the same physics just different quality like how it is meant to be. In the previous version the difference was speed, now it is physics and flying. So if this could be change for future versions that would be great.
Well ah, i play in simple and i find it GREAT! Best buggy thus far! I can't imagine why you dont like it but i do understand. I stopped playing a while back because i hated the flying. Please come back :( Dont pull a fly on us now :P
Not if you end up doing a 360 degree turn... I would like the sensitivity of flight to be adjustable, too sensitive for me... It sends me out of control, and I don't know how to handle it... :( I might get used to it, but it needs to be a bit less sensitive for me...
An axiom of aircraft handling is instability = agility. An agile stunt aircraft is more "unstable" than a Jumbo Jet which is not agile.
This super hight performance buggy in Simple setting is more demanding on the pilot's control input but I am thrilled with it now that I have reduced my control input. (play much lighter on the keys)
ah - Please come back! Please keep trying to get used to it?
Will this be put onto the play page soon? cuz i keep forgetting and starting to play 1.9.5 and then going, "where's the advanced physics? DUR!" and then going to the official news thingy. Yes, i am a bit slow. Even if you're not slow, it would be more easily accessible if it was on the play page, so....yeah.
I'm glad that this new version was released! The tank is a great addition to the vehicles. Also, the ability to modify the hovercraft settings is helpful. And the buggy's skid physics are excellent, allowing a driver to turn without flipping at 60+ speeds.
GREAT THINGS:
-the underlava terrain for the tank and if the lava depth has decreased
-the spacecraft sitting off to the side, being an interesting thing to check out
-the tank's suspension system & graphics
-the minimap moving with your vehicle and showing rotations on the arrow
Well...To be honest, i've loved it since i discovered it but i rarely ever do it even more, it's just a thing for fun but i dunno if i'd miss it anymore. So many good features have been removed and sometimes replaced with new and (sometimes) better ones that one more thing just comes naturally...
