Some thoughts on Martians in general.
Submitted By Picard on 09/10/11
Mars Explorer, picard, Community, Creations, Publications, Other

It occurred to me but a short time ago, that of all the games I have ever played, this one is full of unique individuals. That is not to say that people in other games are less individual, but here, people show that in what they do. We all have unique minds, and special talents, be that flying, driving, tagging, design, music, writing, or so many other things. We are a varied bunch, of any number of backgrounds, be that age, race, grade, or gender, but we all interact in a more or less friendly manner here. Occasionally, a disagreement interrupts this peace, but these are rare and far between. Who are we? We are the Explorers of Mars, and I count myself lucky to have so many of you as friends.
Sincerely,
Picard

ahh yes. Mars Explorer. We are a close-nit group. I would put myself as a Modeller. I also would make my own story, but it would probably be bias in character usage. Also, I would forget and It would also get slammed... oh well, let's hope I can make a movie, now that would be good!

I seem to have gone off subject... I seem to do that a lot these days!

this game sure has created a great community. and i think you forgot one group of people that are very important-the leaders/teachers. besides aubrey-there are many many people who have dedicated their time to help the people of mars not be noobs, and of course just help people when asked.
ps-my spelling and typing has also gotten much better :)

I am glad I found this game and I even got someone else on it!  How I found this game,  hmmmm seems like a lifetime ago.  My dad had this widget for apple that I wanted so I went to the apple widget download area and looked and looked for it but never REALLY did find it.  Then I went into games curious and found Paint ball island a driving one and a couple others but I played them and got bored with them.  A fair amount of them were just demos.  I then went to a page that listed most popular games.  And like 5th on the list was Mars Explorer.  I tried it and it seemed okay so I played it for 5 hours strait and didn't really understand the chat.  I was I believe Lz at th time or maybe something else but I playd for awhile and then I clicked a link to the website and voila I got an account and I have traveled through time to here.

Picard, i read this late last night but couldnt find the words to say how much i agreed and how proud i am to a part of this micro community. I think it's more than just a game, it's like practice for the real world. I've learned a lot, and i hope others have as well. I have played many other games where there has been only two kinds of people, the pros and the noobs, if you will. Here, there is so much more, there is PEOPLE. Each is unique, however similar. I count myself lucky as well Picard.

Well, I couldn't agree more with the people on this post, including Picard. This is a close-knit community where no problem (ok, almost no problem) is too small to help out with. It has helped me in my real life, helped me strengthen my faith in God, and helped me make some great friends. Thank you Aubrey for creating this.

Same. I remember when I first found Mars too

*Wavy flashback*

Me and my sister had just discovered the widget on Apple.com, It was much fun! After a few months
I clicked the website link, That was like.... 1.7? But we STARTED playing before that sooo like 1.5 or 6?
I made my account, Matthew, and asked "Can you play old versions of Mars XPLR"? Bet someone can dig that post up. I had no idea I would meet so many friends here, or have so much fun.

I am quite lucky to have stumbled upon this site. Mars Explorer has become a part of my life. I will be doing what I do in real life, and think "I wonder what has changed today on marsxplr..." or "Did I remember to check MarsRP today?" and also "Did I update my story on horrorstorieclub yet?"

Mars Explorer has made a huge impact on my life. Who else?

Really, you can't just throw out questions like that in a reply. You would need a whole forum post for that simple question. (translation: Who else?! Anyone and Everyone!!)

I've made several friends, had many fond hours on here just playing,
and feel that Mars is better now than when I found it.
Thanks to forum efforts!

Amazing post :]

When I would try to tell my friends what Mars was like, I couldn't because to do that I'd have to explain all of the people in it!

I can't even explain how I feel about Mars Explorer. I may not go on it much anymroe, but I do know that it has tought me lessons online that I won't have to learn in real life.

We all have something in common here :3

I believe Stryker, and everyone else is right too.

I agree with Baba, this is training for the real world. There are pros, noobs, n00bz, and everywhere in between. The good people will find that, in the real world, they will be complimented on their friendliness, and strictness. Martians are usually wonderful people, and n00bz can change into wonderful people.
There is only one word I can think of to describe Mars Explorer: "Marsxplr". It is a community, and has prepared me, I think quite adequately, for other forums and real life. This is the strictest forum I've ever been on. Other forums have mods, but are more chaotic, and are much more likely to stray off topic, even though we have people like [oh, wait, he's changed recently]...well...people like Stryker used to be. Other forums use the word "bump" instead of "bam", and it's quite confusing until you figure out that bump = bam. I think we used to use bump, but how did it change into bam?
Other forums don't have a rule like we do of "don't bam old posts". You could find the oldest post, post something completely off topic, and won't get flamed nearly as bad as on here.

There is a great variety of people on here. They've introduced me into the fascinating world of computers, techno music, and other interests. We are varied, and have various interests and we are masters at many things, be it programming, world creating, hacking, guitar-playing, or socializing. If you stick around long enough, I'm sure you'd become a master at a great many things just by chatting or PMing.

I also have a kind of WWARMOTMCD (What Would A Respected Member Of The Martian Community Do?)... lol

I was going to save these feelings for a post I'd make on my "1 year anniversary of membership", but well, this came up, so I poured them on here.

Thank you, Marsxplr.

Bamming exceptionally old posts is actually known as "gravedigging" (http://www.bvestation.com/forums/index.php?topic=3561.0). It is frowned upon in most forums (including this one).

I gotta say, that Mars explorer has changed my life (and I'm not even kidding). I hadn't the faintest idea of what computer design was before I found Mars explorer. Now, I'm considering it as a career. thank you so much Aubrey for making the game, and thanks especially to Achilles, Gub, Fai (yes you), Macdane, Unity technologies, all those people that are a part of the Blender project, and also Google. I couldn't have done it without you.

ffroggy
PS Aubrey you have permission to use this as a testimonial if you like...

LOL!
On a serious note, I feel the same, but for different interests.

Mars is what started me on computers, and it interested me in programming. I am seriously considering having programming as a career (but not as my profession, or main money-making career). Thanks to Achilles, Flynn, and all ye programmers out there who messed with the site.
