This would be great for team games, because someone could grapple to a vehicle and be swung around, like a mace.  This thing wouldn't need to have another weapon, because the player could pull themselves into the vehicle, too.

dude you got a great idea.  this may very wel be the best idea since the jet.  just i think 40 can be a little time consuming. raise the speed to 80 and u got a great vehicle

great idea, my response to you is this:

-it could have 4 mechanical legs to walk on, but when you press spacebar it would go into the ball mode. this way the walker mode could have a limit of about 40, but the rolling ball mode would have a little bit higher limit.

-i'm not sure which one you thought it would be like, but the grapple hook lines could act like spiderman's webs, so that you could swing around, or they could be solid lines so that you can set yourself up like a turret and shoot in a fixated place.

-the walker mode would sink and walk on the sea/lava floor, but the ball mode would float and be the fastest vehicle on water.

 

let me know what you think about these slight changes, and if you agree/ disagree about certain parts and why you think so.

ok fai, but what i was thinking was that the 4 legs would deploy pointing at the ground, and whenyou think about it 8 legs would look kinda funny sticking out of a ball lol. i think that what your thinking (paradox lol) is the problem of flipping over while in walker mode, and that wouldnt be a problem coz of the previous statement (leg deployment). on another note, and this is just a crazy idea, i'm not even serious, just brainstorming: instead of walker mode when you press space it would just become sticky and stay attached to whatever surface its on, and roll around (like when you hold a magnet under a table whith a metal ball on the table, and move the magnet around). idk, its just a crazy idea.

wow haha. i had this same idea :P i mentioned it on the helicopter vehicle because i think it would be sweet to airlift friends places.

 

i also think it would be sweet to be able to attach 2 objects together with the grappling hook. this would obviously be broken after a tug but i think it would be sweet.

 

in addition i love your sphere idea. but im not sure about the speed haha. usually smaller vehicles ae faster. you can reach 300+ in a buggy if you have a proper runway. maybe grappling the ground in front of you would give you a boost?

also like the jets thrust buttons i think it would be sweet if you could shorten/elongate the line with Q and E and also possibly have in-air controls for swinging.

Sounds like an awesome vehicle but with the mars we have now, you need to be able to shoot lasers.  It should be like the clawshot (Zelda Twilight Princess) or Hookshot (Majora's Mask) or Longshot (Ocarina of Time)

It's the hookshot on mars!  (Or longshot or clawshot-it doesn't really matter)

I am not too big on the idea, but it might work. but first, It should look something like a suliban cell ship. The little arms must be easily terminated, and easily deployed accurately. Like have a maximum of 3 and must be tangle proof. and a button to terminate all arms simultaneously.

Just an idea, but maybe you could make the vehicle look like this:

I think it would then look to much like a Star Wars vehicle, and I am not a fan of Star Wars.... 

The vehicles that we have now are already enough.

Well, I went ahead and made a concept grappler model. It's still kinda rough (and was quite interesting to think of and make) and might need a lot of polishing here and there. I'll probably make another post soon after some of my other posts fall off the recent posts list :P. Here's a quick render of what I have so far:

i think it's a great idea but i would change the controls to q+e to go up and down the grapple(or maybe lengthen and shorten?)and w,a,s,d or arrow keys to swing about(so you can get around faster and for added fun)

To me, this is starting to get like Star Wars.....

I know it isn't from Star Wars, but I think it is a little to far out of this game.

There are three original vehicles. They are simple, yet unique. Sure it would be cool to have your idea work, but in my opinion it doesn't fit. To me, you wouldn't find a vehicle like the Grappler exploring a different planet. 

Sorry, forgot one. This is my opinion and you may not like it. I actually despise things like the Xorbs. 

Great Idea. Just one thing: Q and E switch between laser and Grappler. Space to release. when it has no lines, space slingshots the sphere up a wall on across the ground.

Great idea love it but maybe a small laser for defence

i think that it is a good idea but needs a lot of work.

 

it shoud be more ballenced to that you wouldn't be boucing away. maby there  could be a control key so that you could stop instantly if you don't think that you are in control or something like that.
