A quick and easy quide to learning your way around the forum and the game
Submitted By thedude on 10/01/19
Mars Explorer, thedude, Community

Hello everybody,

I'm not trying to make forum and game guidelines, but I figure this would help some of the
newer forum members around the forum and game

  • To check your Private Message Inbox -  First, you must look for the blue bar at the top of the page. There is a picture of it below. To check your inbox, simply click where you see Message(s), and that will take you to your inbox. The rest is self-explanatory.

  •  To Send a Private Message - You will need to hover your mouse above where it says message(s) in the blue bar pictured above. Once you do that, you will see a drop-down menu which is pictured below. In that drop down menu, you will see Both Read Messages and Send Message. Click on Send Message, and send away.

  • To Post Content to the Forum - Throughout the forum, you will see a Menu Bar, which is also pictured below. I have circled what you need to click in order to submit content. Click that, and you're good to go. Please read Aubrey's instructions on how to submit content before you submit anything please, they are pictured below.

  • To sign in with your account on the actual game - When on the game menu, you'll see where it asks for your name, and then if you're a registered member. If you click registered member, it will show you a box asking for your password. The password it wants is your account password. Remember to type in your account name, or it won't let you sign in. A picture is provided below.

I hope this answered some other common questions that were not on the FAQ Page.

Applesky also has a Great Thread that answers many questions as well.

Sincerely ~ The Dude

Add-On's

  • To Tell if a Thread is Old - Please refer yourself to the thread linked to the left, which shows how to tell if a thread is old or not.

  • To host a Stable server - Keep the game window up, and don't click out of it, thats a biggie. Close out all other applications, which includes itunes, Skype, sketchup, imovie, anything that isn't Marsxplr, shut it. When you click out of the window, or switch tabs, that freezes the game, causing everybody to go non-responding, which ruins the fun. If you're on the widget, you must keep Dashboard open or else the game will freeze. Do not install insane server physics, they may be fun for you, but not for the other players. Do not add bots at all in games with two players or more, as they cause serious lag in servers.
  • To Evict/Ban a player - First off, never abuse the evict/ban button, don't use it just to gain quarry, don't use it because you don't like being pwned, and don't use it because your emotions got in the way. Evict players who are a disturbance, ones that curse and don't play fairly. You can find the evict button in the Active Players Panel, which is pictured below and circled. To evict or ban a player, simply click next to their name "evict" or "ban".

  • How to play fairly? - First off, shoot quarry. Quarry is the player whose name-tag is green. If you don't shoot quarry, you lose points, which can be used as a game format, but for most laser tag games, that is frowned upon. Do not sit and shoot in one spot, in any vehicle, that is too easy and takes the fun out of the game. Do not use the lava to your advantage by sitting under it and firing away. Do not hop in a jet, take quarry, and then fly out of reach, keep it fair, keep the game rolling, stay within reach. Do not take quarry, and simply flee with it, that is no fun, fight back, try to earn some points while you're quarry! Aim, don't just blast out random lasers, that's just low.

  • How to Edit your comment - Editing a comment you want to change is fairly easy. When you post a comment, at the top of that comment, is the comment title, then next to that, you'll see edit and reply. Press edit to edit your comment and you're all good. I have included a pic below.

  •  How to Create a World - You may create a world two ways. To create a terrain world, go to Unity3d.com, and download the free version of Unity, and you're good to go. To create a block world, which requires no download, just use Flyclub's World Creator, which is complete with a tutorial.
  • How to send your custom world to Aubrey - First off, you must export the unity package to where ever you like, you can do this by hovering the mouse over assets, then clicking export package. Then, go to Filefront.com, you do not need an account to use it, and it's free. Click upload, and select the file you want to upload. Then, save the link, and send it to Aubrey in a pm, and then be patient.

  • How to fly the jet - The Q and E keys are your best friends. You'll note that the landing gear on the jet is deployed from the start, press E, which is your throttle, to go up to where you want to go. Once you get to your preferred height, press the space bar to un-deploy the landing gear. At this point, E will move you forward, and Q will more you backwards. I've found it easiest to fly a jet while using the arrow keys and Q and E.

As many have noticed, this thread has gone through many improvements and has had many add-on's to it, which is why I renamed it "A Guide to all things Marsxplr"

I'll be updating it with new material whenever I think of some and happen to be around a computer.

I would love it if my fellow community members would submit material here in the comments as well!
That would be great, and highly appreciated.

So to all, have a great night!

With Sincere kindness,

TheDude

I have a slight addition to this post.... Let's say someone has just put up a post. A great deal of people find no reason for such a post, and forcefully demand it be taken down.... Over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over etc. I have nothing against anyone who does so, but I'm afraid that we may just be scaring away potential members for the community in doing so and often times, these posts are from new members still finding their way around. Rather than continuely ask that a post be hidden, you could either 1) Not comment and let in fall to the bottom or 2) Check the member's page! See if they've even been on the site to see that people want their post hidden! If not, it doesn't really help to continually ask that a post be hidden when the post's creator hasn't even  been around to see that people want it hid, now does it?

Ok, I have a little to add, focusing on the ATI tools section.

To view your basic ATI module, scroll over the Account: (Your name here) button at the top. You should see several selections you can chose from, like this.

You may then view your profile, log out, view a list of registered players, or proceed to edit your profile. If you wish to do so click the link ''Edit Profile.'' You will be given selections to change your password, phone number, or location. This is only recommended if you wish to reveal personal info to the community.
To add your real name, or nicknames you wish to add to your name, edit the real name section.
These extra names will show up in your game between (these) and this is also a way to add titles if you're in clubs. For instance if I added ''ACC'' to my title, it'd show up as ACC (AlexNB.)

Also, if you wish to refer your friends to the game, click the ''Refer Friends'' button. You can refer them by e-mail. You may include their name and a message.  The module is as follows:

If ok, I'll add a post about buggy control soon.
-Alex

Perhaps you should add a section on how to tell if a sent PM has been read by the recipient or not?

If, on the sent PM list, the entry is in Bold, then it has not been read by the recipient. If it is normal, then it has. Do not pay attention to the number within the PM itself as to how many times it has been opened.

WRONG

this is simply not true

the truth is, you have to click on it and go to the bottom where there is a message.

These have contradicted before, but i would trust the click then look at the bottom method.

Sorry, but that always shows as a one when not read. The only stipulation on whether it is bold or not is if the recipient read the PM through an auto-forwarded e-mail.

A.K.A. The PM must be read on-site for it to no longer be bolded.

If it has been read by the recipient, then it will be unbolded. If it hasn't been read, it will be bold.
