Presenting the very first fully custom vehicle on Mars Explorer.

Hello everyone! Sorry for posting another of my creations in a separate post, but I decided that it didn't exactly fit my other "City of Dreams" post very well. Basically what I have here is Mars' first custom vehicle! I had the idea to do something of this sort a while back, but Kruncher was the one who actually requested something of this sort - so I made it. Please note that this is my very first version of this, and the first time I've done this sort of thing on Mars Explorer. Expect the later versions to be much more refined ;)
 
Oh, one note: if you loose your car somehow, restart/rejoin the server to reset the car. There were a lot of limitations in making this vehicle as you might notice.
 
Oh, very important: after you start the server, press 2 (for the follow mode) and then 4 to get farther behind the car. If you don't, all you will see is the car's back.

Hey, at least it's quality and at best it's a breakthrough! so no appology for this post okay? Very cool work Achilles! I just wish my screen didn't freeze when trying to join.

Hmm, I wonder what might have caused that. It might have been because of the large number of people or my ground texture size. Probably the latter though... I'll check it out later tonight.

Interesting... Did you just reprogram the Carbon Combat car to replace the buggy somehow? Or does it cover up the buggy, like tffan's post says?

The buggy is put into the mesh on start. It is impossible to replace the buggy mesh with my own in-game.

Achilles This is a breakthrouh now please could you create a map(put 2 or 3 Of these cars in the city of dreams then export) and by the way if you lose the car headbutt its rearbumper at 20 mph and you will find your selfin the car

I'm probably going to implement this car into another cityish map instead of the City of Dreams map. The car is actually designed so that you can get out by resetting your pos, and then get back in by driving into the car.

Was a lot of fun zapping it's empty shell once I got out though. 
 
It looks great! .oO(Especially when lit up from the ground with a heap of tank lazers)

Wow what a signifigant milestone...
It looks like a Lamborghini Murcelago.
One car in particular (although 2 mods dont really like me bringing up this subject,) it looks like Wolfs second car from NFS Carbon.

If you have ideas on HOW exactly I could make it better I would be all for it. Criticism is great, but please, tell me how I can improve it - don't just say something is bad as it won't get better that way.

1.make it an actual vehicle, not just a costume DX
 
2. have the wheels stick to the ground, meaning make it have its own physics instead of buggy physics
 
3. add a flying ability
 
4. physics again
 
5. disable the ability for the costume to fly off if anything...
 
6. physics a third time
 
7. ability to shoot lasers
 
8. can be used for other vehicles other than the buggy (optional)
 
9. respawn means you take the car with you (so the buggies ARE the cars)
 
10. physics one more time

Unfortunately most of the above suggestions are impossible for me to do. Only Aubrey can replace the in-game buggy mesh. The physics as you suggest a lot is based mostly on the buggy handling. You can adjust the server settings accordingly if you want a different feel for the car.
 
The multiple customizable vehicles is something that can be done - but using the same technique as what is currently being used. If anyone can think of another way to do this, I'm all for it.

One more thing there is a gap between the car and the Buggy which makes it difficult to handle (The Car has bigge lenth which you can see when you go into first person mode and go ack and forth )P
P.S 5 and 7 of fiffans post can be done i think but 7 is very hard as it will always act as anothther mest witch will stop the laser but atleast cut a hole in the very center from where the buugy shoots with the right click and again to make that work the car  should be locked onto the buggy fixxed no gap got it.

Well, first of all, whenever you start the game, sometimes, the buggy will show and the other car will be somewhere else, like 6 feet away from you, and its a struggle to get in the car. But other than that, its awsome!

i think i figured out why nobody can join the server. you need A.multiple cars B. a script dictates that once the first car is occupied by the host each succesive player occupies a different car C. or you could have a workaround that spawns a car on the base every time a person joins the game
 
also achilles just tell me if this is to much but i think you can do this

No, it's not possible with Whirld as:
 
a) You cannot script in the current version of Whirld
b) You cannot add network views to any objects in Whirld as it messes with Aubrey's custom network object instantiations.

It's a car mesh with convex mesh colliders added to the wheels. An inverted rectangle with a box collider is in the center which "traps" the buggy when driven into. (It's also why you can't exactly fly while in the car).

Thanks :) I would make more versions, but I don't have the Unity Pro trial anymore (used to export worlds to Mars). Once the new version of Whirld is released I might make something like this but on a grander scale (think lots of different types of vehicles that you can drive into and control).

this seems a little too much like the buggy. if you are looking to add this sports car thing to the game i would suggest it sould be able to go really fast and not have wings.

'tis a custom vehicle, it's not going to be in the game as a main vehicle.
 
So we're not looking to add this to the game, it's a custom vehicle in one world. If you read the description, you would know this.
