The second Martian Dogfighting Tournament
Submitted By PointyBagels on 10/09/25
Mars Explorer, PointyBagels, Community, Other

RULES:

Both players agree on a map.
A neutral player, like a bot that cant move or anything, or a spectator if you allow them, starts with Quarry
Each player goes to a different side of the map.
Each player will go towards the neutral player trying to get quarry.

Whichever player has quarry can score points.
First to 10 points wins.
----
UPDATE 2

Brackets will be made and sent out today, hopefully within 3 hours from now.
You have until Christmas day to complete your match.
----
UPDATE

unless there are objections, we will start the tourney now, considering that I finally filled the bracket

Sorry for the delay.

A confirmation PM will be sent out now, replies are due on Friday, for a start day of Saturday.
----

So some of you might remember the original Dogfighting tournament.  It sort of flopped due to people who would not do it and stuff like that.

This time, I'm going to run it myself, and hopefully i will be able to put enough time into it to make it work for me.

So there are 16 spots, which will be given out on a first come first serve basis.

I will be seeding players according to my opinion of how good they are, as well as that of others.

The tournament will be on a weekly basis, and each week those who are playing will play 1 round, at any point in the week that they want, providing i know the time and date of it.

It is single elimination, and the bracket will be made soon.

Confirmed Participants:

Tigerstorm
AlexNB
FlyMan
PointyBagels
Acorn2Oak2
Gub
ThunderBird
the_gamer_

A PM confirming your entry into the tournament will be sent out on friday, if you do not reply to it, a backup player will play in your stead for the entire tournament.

(in the event that syn3h comes out before the tournament is finished, and is not too glitchy, all games will be played there, if not, 2.22.)

Posted 2010/09/26 - 20:03 GMT
You guys don't seem to get it.  The point is that you can play matches at any point during the week, whenever you have time, the only requirement is that I know when the match will be ahead of time so I can be there.

Edit: That sounds kind of harsh, don't mean it that way at all.

One big problem with me, is that I can't set up any playing time ahead of time. I always get called away to do other things.  Well, to the people that are participating in the tournament, Good luck!

Well, school is the most important thing, so focus on that, but if you can find a way to play, I will gladly fit you in.

This might be out of place, but here goes nothing. If you have the M86 WEB FILTER at your school, here is how to bypass it. Enter web address. then after the web filter pops up, highlight the URL (web address). then right click it. click copy. right click web address on top of page. click paste. may have to use more than once.

2 things.

1: it would not work, mars takes something like 5 sites to run, more than one of which would be blocked

2: I think he meant he has too much work to be able to take the time to play.
3 days - 10,628v
Posted 2010/12/17 - 17:59 GMT
If we cannot get 2 more people, we may just have to make it a round robin, or almost, because we need at least 8 to have a real tournament.

Or just like a triple elimination or something, where there would be no need for byes.
