A world that features a wrecked ship stranded on an island.
Submitted By Achilles on 10/10/24

Hello again - sorry for bamming this post up. I made some improvements to both the ship and the terrain around it:

[edit] For some clarification: Yes, this ship is an oil tanker.

- Put small pipes that go perpendicular to the two large ones
- Added grass and small rocks around trees and cargo containers
- Changed the overall look of the water - now uses fake reflections (but no refractions unfortunately)
- Added shore foam around some islands
- Re lightmaped everything with semi-soft shadows
- Added ramps to the back end of the control center to get to the balcony
- Fixed ground plane z-fighting (flashing from two objects too close together)
- Optimized all textures and meshes - total size of world: 5.1 megabytes

And here's some pictures:

Hello everyone! I'm proud to present "The Shipwreck". It was designed to host team deathmatches as well as free-for-all games. The Shipwreck is fully lightmapped and optimized (meaning that slow computers shouldn't feel too much strain while playing). Enjoy!

[Update] Here's a quick webplayer I exported. You can sort of "jet-pack" around by holding down space and pushing off things. You won't be able to jump while in the air, however. There are a couple things that I'm working on such as the glitchy occlusion culling (baking it on the lowest quality takes 3 hours (or more) -_-). The water may also be changed to something less reflective.

Like the scattered debris. The texture is so beautiful (like not really but in the sense that it goes well with the scene) Yeah XD! PLEASE IMPLEMENT IN Carbon Combat™ very soon!

Nice job! Seems like it would be a good medium-sized world for CC.

Just one thing: Is there oil floating around the ship, considering (at least I think) it was an oil tanker? If not, that would be cool! Nothing special, just on the 'Sea' plane.

I'm not sure how long oil can linger in the water before it dissipates (this spill isn't too recent). I'll go poke around the internet and see what I can find before putting oil on the water.

I was wondering... what happened to the lower levels eh?

Lower-levels?

[Update] Preformed a 6-8 hour occlusion culling bake (while I was sleeping). The webplayer should be more accurate when hiding the geometry that you aren't seeing.

No I meant the decks. I can see all of it. I was just stating the ship is empty inside...

Well done. A few nitpicks, though.

1: Needs more interest. Perhaps some more landscaping, bigger world, and more levels to the boat. Boats aren't just a hollow hall. The modelling is nice, but I will get bored with this world quickly if it stays this way.

2: The Textures. I think you should put different textures on parts of the boat. Right now evey single part of the boat shares the same texture, you should use different textures for the hall, deck, ect.

Other than that, awesome work, and I can't wait to host it in Syn3h.

Thank you for the suggestions, Mr. Fiber. I might put some more textures on the main deck and some smaller pipes. I tried to stay away from making large interior corridors and rooms (like Seb's Sky King) as much as possible as I don't particularly like navigating in close-quarters. It was designed as an oil tanker, which is why there's no levels in the boat's hull (see picture below). Some rock outcroppings for sniping will also be added to surrounding islands.

I'm also heavily optimizing it - it's already down to 6.8 megabytes from its original 15.

Wow! Awesome updates! What about making an engine room, a pump room and a fuel tank?
If only unity had a water simulator thingy, to make splashes and stuff, then you could make oil slick surrounding the ship.

EDIT: Where'd you get those textures?

Lots of detail and texture! Good update. The oil tanker is kinda huge. I think it's bigger than debs sky monster. But I haven't tried out your world yet so I'm not so sure yet

Nah, Seb's Sky King is still the largest single ship out there :P. Here's a comparison:

That.... looks very very scary.  Hey would the oil tanker fit in the giant hanger hall of the Seb's Sky King?  If it doesn't make it just a bit smaller, that would be so fun...  a person is oging around and then suddenly they find an oil tanker...

@Zacharay (ZAM) - I won't be exporting any of my new maps to Mars (Rocks of Avoi, Silos, Shipwreak, etc.) until the new Whirld version is released. It also requires that Aubrey exports it as I do not have a Unity pro lisence.
