The Syn3h Buggy 2.1

Hello all!

I have taken a long look at my current Syn3h buggy. I find it to be... well, not fun-looking or buggy-ish enough. Syn3h needs something new, something fresh. The wheels and spoiler aren't that great on the current Syn3h buggy, either.

So, here is the revised Syn3h buggy that I made yesterday.
This buggy features a more futuristic styling and a different stance. A detailed suspension is included. The only bits of styling that are similar to the old mars buggies are the spoiler and side intakes. I think this captures the form of a "buggy" better than the current Syn3h buggy. I also like the styling quite a bit more on my newly revised version. So, here are some renders of the newest Syn3h buggy.

*****UPDATES***** Minor fixes to improve overall fit and finish. The wheels have been edited a bit. The tread will be more jagged and angular in-game. Wheelbase and track width edited a slight bit. Hope you guys like it!

****NOTE**** The wheels have odd deformities on them because the smooth mode in modo smoothed out the parts of the spoke on the wheel. This will not occur in game.

Enjoy! Comments and CONSTRUCTIVE criticisms welcome!

i agree it isn't very good and i think thats because it's just a touched up version of the old mars buggy made to look like it's just been waxed

but mess around with is and i think you could really have something good to present to aubrey

It's not terrible, i'll say that.

Not too sure if i like the way the windshield is arranged, but i don't think it's terrible.

This one looks a lot less bulky than the other one, and that's a good thing.

EDIT: looking again, i have to say that for what it's worth, it's pretty realistic looking, I can easily imagine something like this actually being built.

Whoa. This is amazing. I like the slightly leaning and sweeping profile. The side vents make it look almost Veyron-ish, and the spoiler on the back gives a fun connotation. The only thing is the"headlights", they don't give off the feeling I'm looking for.
Try inspiration from the Nissan Maxima, Koenigsegg CCX, or the Evo.

I liked the second revised version, or the last version better. Although it is a cool design, it just doesn't feel right. Overall, it's an awesome radical design, and the wheels are awesome! The spoiler is a great improvement on the previous version too.

Here are some suggestion/criticism, I may be a bit harsh XD.
  1. Maybe it could be higher in the front. Also, it seems a bit pointy.
  2. The things over the front wheels (I can't tell if they are spoilers) are kind of redundant.
  3. Although it makes it look spunky, I think the way the body is on the same slope as the windshield is a bit too radical.
  4. The gearbox thing seems like it doesn't fit with the rest of the model, It is sharp, and it isn't smooth and high-tech looking.
  5. The white air intakes on the back seem redundant. Maybe just make the side ones bigger?
  6. Me wants some headlights!
Please consider these things, and the buggy will be as close to perfect as it should be.

But I prefer this effort to the last one! The spoiler is much better, and I think this buggy is a better fit for Syn3h. Very nice job.

Hmm...  It seems... I guess I just don't prefer "futuristic style" but... it seems wrong.  Whatever happened to the perfect angles?  the impossible 90 degree square cars?  The larger non-curvy veichles?

  1. The window, in the sixth picture, the cockpit, it seems to go unaturally upward, like it should be not as tall, the cockpit.
  2. Also, the air-intakes, on top, those look really really bad. They look to shiny, and they appear as if they are joined properly, I can't give you specifics, but those should go.
  3. I agree, that the front should be lifted, so the wheels look more natural
  4. The white lines in the front, and around the cockpit, look unatural, I don't like the streaks, nor do I like the red lines at the back.
  5. Headlights anyone?  Does this mean we will have no lights whatsoever?
  6. The tires need more tread, right now you have nondefined tread, and it looks bad.  Either get completely smooth tires, or better defined tread.
  7. In picture 5, in the reflextion by thesprings, it looks as if there is something there, can you get us a picture showing if there is something there?
That's all for now, and I especially like the spoiler in the back, that was well done, and the suspension looks good, and so do the metal portions of the tires, but the body looks... wrong.  Can't tell you how really, but it seems as if you need to take off the front wheels rotate the front of the body a few degrees up, and then put the tires back on.

Hm... interesting.

Yes, the tread isn't defined because it is in modo Smooth Mode. I'll post some pics without smooth mode.

As for the cockpit, I can improve on that. It is a bit undefined, and the air intakes can be inproved.

The "red lines" on the back are tail lights. The white ones on the front are the headlights (LED strips)

My honest opinion: the revised buggy brings back some old and familiar aspects. Personally, I like the streamlined body and smooth spoiler. GTR, just make it the way you want to. I would like someone else to come up with something so beautiful. (Seriously I would. Achilles, your buggy doesn't count!)

By a lot. :)

It feels like the headlights were kinda just plopped on there though. It's be better if you incoporated them into the shape of tha car a bit more.

I just realized, those shocks could make for some cool in-game animations! I like those effects. : D

honestly, i think you could be a great concept car designer.  if you haven't thought about doing that for your career, i would be surprised.  you could make sooo much money, and you could see your models not in a game, but on the streets in the real world.  i tell ya, you could be designing my car i would be driving.  if you went somewhere with young concept car designers, i think you might be surprised how good your are, unless you all ready knew how good you are. in that case start looking for some open spots in modeling cars!  you could work for some great car company at like 21 or something!!  it would be a shame if you got a job in making transactions for people in debt, or some manager in a subway, knowing that you could be designing the cars that our generation would be driving.

Love it. I would enjoy to drive it around in Syn3h very much!

The "Deformities" on the wheels actually look pretty good, if you mean the bumps on the tires.

Don't change the quadruple headlights. I love everything about them.

The spoiler is bent down at the edges, though... maybe we could straighten them out a little more?

Also, the air intakes on the sides (the bigger ones) are a little too big. Perhaps just a smidgeon smaller?

That's just my two cents!

Again, love it. Very interesting design, too!

Is that red stuff on the windshield a tint?

And are the headlights new? because they are good?

I think the treads are a lot better now, but it seems rather... not off-road oriented.

Overall, better than 2.0 IMO.

Updated List.
What I like.
  1. I like the wheels now, better, much more defined.
  2. The top air intakes look better, thank you.
  3. THANK YOU SO MUCH!  I love the new headlights.  I like pop out head lights.
What I don't like... D:
  1. The spoiler, I would want a completely flat spoiler, (IE don't have the two bends in the middle of the spoiler, but keep the on the sides of the spoilers the angles)
  2. the half metal piece in front, can you show where that comes from?  Because is it a metal slab that just sort of comes off?  Where does it join fully to the underneath of the body?
  3. The side spoilers, need to be lowered a little, and if you don't like that shrunk a touch and lowered a bit, so they aren't in line with the flat plane by the cockpit.  Just a touch lower.
  4. What I meant in my other post is not the spoiler itself, but in picture #4, you have the lower piece of metal the joins the buggy to the wheel.  Is there anything sticking out through that piece of metal?  So, just under where the suspension is.
  5. In picture #2, are those pieces of plastic, on the right wheel?  (the red pieces on the wheel of the buggy in pic #2) it just, well make it a different color.  It stands out and draws my attention to it.  It should add to the piece, not draw my eyes to it.
(Yeah yeah, I get picky.  I am trying not to get to picky, but just telling you what I think it should look like.  )
OH!  One more thing, in picture #6, you have the suspension, and it connects to a piece of metal right to the left and higher then the lights, it appears you have a line, or something, where it looks like it was fused together, from the upper left headlight, to the piece of metal.  And, the piece of metal that's there, can you lower that?  Or make it look more natural?  I don't like it, and I can't exactly tell you why...The back looks fine with it, but the front it looks like it protrudes to much.

BTW: Nice red tint in the cockpit.  I like that tint.  Keep up the good work!

Gosh... I got rejected for the educational license of Modo. Jerks. Oh GTR, are you considering on making some wing holding device or something. Like a defined joint (perhaps an extruded surface). Cause if the wings just pop out, thats lame. This picture could better explain.  See the extruded bit in the fuselage

I'll suggest to make the headlights look a little less like flashlights.... either round them out or make the tube holding them shorter.. : )

Also, I think it would be pretty sweet if you added little winglets to the thingy on the back.

Overall, NICE buggy. I think you will probably grow up to be a sports car designer... :)

You also tried to insult me in your last post which keeps the flamewar going on longer. So I have one thing to say to you right now that i am sure is not completely unallowed on mars. ( I did't feel offended) that was considered an insult, and therefor you were contributing to the flamewar.

ok, lemme tell u this
1. nuisance isnt a word that ignites a flamewar
2. a flamewar is a really intense hate-war and two or more ppl r going at it
3. i said please 2 times, to me that isnt rude at all, so dont come up with the idea
4. i didnt say "u suck" or anything like that, i said u were being a nuisance, and thats a fact because u were bragging that u like flamewars and that were reading to bring it on to anybody, and u used the word "hell"
5. a hypocrite is someone who tells someone else not to do something, but then the person goes and does it themself

and this is the end of the discussion

How was I supposed to know what another person would say?  It's not my fault if I insult them and make fun of them, and yell and scream at them begging for attention and a flame war that they choose to reply.

:P

(though actually for all you sillys that actually thought I was trying to start a flame war.  It was a joke.)

Very well done, GTR. It's smooth enough to be a futuristic marvel, yet rough enough to be a awesome off-roading vehicle. Honestly I've stared at this thing for half an hour and the only thing I can critique is that the headlights are a little hexagonal or "stop sign-ish" in the sense that they have a low-poly blocky sort-of look to them. But really, that's all I've got.

Very nicely done. This is an acheivment that you should be proud of.

My only request: Wireframes?

I agree with you all, it does look like the toy story buggy.

DOOOOOOOOOOOD!!!!!!!!!! HUGE FRIDGIN IDEA JUST POPPED INTO MY GENIUS MIND!!! YOU SHOULD MAKE (RIGHT NEXT TO THE COLOR OF THAT SHWEET BUG, ON THE IN-GAME MENU) A BODY STYLE CHANGER THINGAMABOBBER THINGY!

WHAT I MEAN IS THAT IT COULD BE THE SAME BUGGY BODY SHAPE, BUT YOU COULD EDIT THE BODY COLOR TO MAKE IT LOOK LIKE SOMETHING ELSE..... O.K. IM NOT DESCRIBING THIS VERY WELL, BUT I THINK THIS EXAMPLE WILL CLEAR EVERYTHING UP.

SO...FOR EXAMPLE...THIS!!!

TOOOOOOOO, DRUM ROLL PLEASE!!! DRUM RRRRROOOOLLLLLLL!!! THIS!!!
IM A GENIUS!!!!!
