Greetings! Here is an animation of my Syn3h buggy that took 6 days to render. I did this all for you guys!
Hello all. Aubrey has gone ahead and made changes to my buggy, some of which I like and some of which I do not like that much. I have redesigned the Syn3h buggy rims. They have the same concept, only a slightly different style. I've altered the headlights and the trim slightly as well. I've also decided to remove the bottom skidplate, though it may be a good idea to keep it. Here are some renders of the final product:
The rims function just like the current rims on the current Syn3h Buggy. Suggestions and ideas wanted.
Nice and shiny, GTR. I noticed some odd little pointy things on the stripes. I think they might be geometry that you may have forgot to fix:
I'm curious as to how you made the tire treads. Did you make a cylinder and then boolean them? The polies seem a bit angular and jagged in some pictures instead of smooth. In Syn3h I noticed that the bottom of the buggy was quite ugly in terms of poly flow around the edges - it almost looked like a vertex weld job :O. I'm guessing that it was the "bottom skidplate" you mentioned in your post.
@Geek377
Aubrey stated that the dimensions of the new buggy are 2x the old one - the old one was 1m by 1m so the new one is 2m by 2m ;)
Achilles, that is the result of the smooth mode in modo. It won't look like that in the game. And yes, The skidplate is the result of Aubrey's optimization to the poly count.
Absolutely amazing design. You should get a job as an automotive designer.
By skid plate did you mean front splitter? If not then a cool racing splitter would be awesome and great for going fast around turns.
I'm going to have to agree with Teriva on this one.
Gtr, I appreciate the work you've put into this though, and the fact that you can take constructive and destructive criticism from a community and make appropriate changes is admirable. Thanks for all your hard work.
i would say make the spoiler not able to be seen when in alt/option shooting mode(it bothers me when shooting at people tailing me) angle each edge inward or remove it completely and make a boat extension like the wing!
Nice animation GTR. The original pictures were a tad bit low on the quality (slightly pixelated and blurry even on the highest setting for YouTube). Another qurik is that you used the smoothed mode for the animation which made the wheel treads look a tad pecuilar and melted looking. Overall, good job.
Dude this is so awesome. This is so far one of the best videos you have ever made. The ending scene were it says syn3h buggy was a nice touch. This is like a real car commercial.
I dont like the Syn3h buggy. 1. It is too big and bulky. 2. It doesn't flip if it's upsidedown. The old buggy does that. 3. I hate the wheels. I rather have spinning ones than a tire spinning on a static rim. ITS TOO BIG! IT WONT FIT IN ACHILLES CUSTOM CAR! AND IT DOESNT FLIP IF IT IS STUCK UPSIDEDOWN! Rating of buggy: -5 Yep! Thats below zero.
An idea that both parties might like is a inward static wheel, with a second hub within the static rim that splays outward, so you can still see the static rim, but the hub and tire rotate.
I watched the video again and noticed a split back window, kinda cool resembling the 1963 corvette stingray. But maybe some touches later on could be a very thin chrome stripe down the middle of the window shell.
Carbon fibre would look really cool on this car too although it might be impossible.
I just played Sy3h for the first time today, and all I can say is, GTR, this vehicle is remarkable! It handles well, has no trouble scooting under the tables in the Sky King, flies well, and looks futuristic in a way that is reminiscent of the new Enterprise. This is, by far, a worthy successor to the Mars Buggy.
Hmm... I like the pictures. But in the actual gameplay of Syn3H, the buggy on fastest setting... looks kind of bad. I am not saying it's a bad desgin. (Because it's actually pretty good) it just doesn't work as well with poorer rendering.
