Greetings Syn3h/Mars Explorer community!
If you would like to ask a simple question or state a concern, but do not want and/or fell the need to make a whole new thread, please do so here. As a stickied thread, the community will see this thread in "Content" on the first page, and probably visit quite frequently–especially for a constantly operating "Questions and Answers" type post.
Many may have similar questions/concerns; this post would be an excellent resource before asking your own. Lastly, we could save forum space and some troubles of organizing the forums if we simply ask questions here.
So if you have any question or concern whatsoever, please state it! It won't hurt to make a post ;)

Would a detailed FAQ page be better suited to answering questions of newbies? The main problem with the sticked threads is that it doesn't show up for logged in members in the recent content section of the homepage by default, which makes it harder to respond to new comments.

Can we please get a Mars Explorer OFFICIAL FAQ for modelers. Like get all the peeps who did/do tuts (Achilles, Gub, Dude, Dane, me, froggy, etc.) to work together and make ONE detailed FAQ and have it on the top bar of the site? I just think that new uses would have better and complete access to the finished product.

I think Rco, as in Laser Rco, is short for Ricochet. It certainly looks that way. All the other stuff, I have no idea.

CalcPng: Ping time (Network lag. Bigger values = bigger lag)
TmstmpOfst: Unknown, Probably positional offset between updates. Used for interpolation calculation most likely

AllocatedID: Networking ID for assigning update signals to specific objects

1. CalcPng = Calculated Ping which is the time it takes the packet to be relayed from the remote player, to the server host, and finally to the local player (you). The ping is also known as the latency.
2. TmstmpOfst = Timestamp Offset, and is the calculated time of how much the packets are delayed by (much like the ping). Aubrey calculates it by getting the network time of when the packet was sent, and subtracting that by the current network time of when the packet is received.
3. Rco = ricochet and is the value applied to the lasers to cause them to bounce. The lasers actually do not use the physics engine, so the bounces are all calculated using the angle of hit (info can be found by Googling).
4. AllocatedID is essentially a unique number assigned to networked objects (i.e. the player cars or the lasers fired). The allocated ids are chosen from a pool of ids which is essentially a list of network ids available for everyone to use.
5. Jtr = Jitter and is used to make sure the buggies don't shake randomly on each update from the bitstream.
6. The Wikipedia article was removed because Mars Explorer isn't considered a popular or widely known game and thus didn't meet the requirements for a proper Wikipedia article. If you search Mars Explorer on Wikipedia and click on the discussion/talk page you should be able to get a detailed explanation to why they removed it.

I'm sure logging in and having your username displayed would be very easy, but it wouldn't really give you anything until there is some sort of multiplayer or leaderboard. I don't think Mars will have a leaderboard, and the current app is far away from multiplayer, much less multiplayer like we have on our desktop version.

Just a random few questions:
1. Does anyone know a guy named Athestes (something-or-other) who's been playing Mars XPLR since the beginning? Because he's in a new group (or apparently new) and he's trying to take over Mars and become the king (also he said he was more powerful than Aubrey and I know that's not true) but some people said he could take your ID from this... True chiz or is it false?
2. Is it likely that when Syn3h becomes more popular, more people will leave Mars XPLR? Because I don't have Syn3h (and I don't know how to download it) and I feel like there won't be nearly as many on Mars anymore.
3. Also, why does it say "94 players online, 24 on this version?"

1. It is possible to hack into Aubrey's login system for Mars - which I doubt he could do it though.
2. Syn3h is supposed to be the sucessor to Mars - so when it is released Aubrey might decide to do a slow transition of users from Mars to Syn3h.

It's either threaded, hybrid (default), or flat display. It's what the post looks like before there are 101 posts. At 101 posts it defaults to flat and you can't change it. "Fancy" is threaded, hybrid, or flat.

Well if you really want to just gather a bunch of people in game...
But I wouldn't suggest doing it because many players will get annoyed unless it's a really great club that Mars will benefit from. And you don't want annoyed players.

Why does the planet Mars icon on top of the screen have a planetary ring, giant hovercraft and a giant buggy? But mostly, WHY IS THERE A RING ON MARS!?

I think that maybe it's because there is a jet noob with Quarry that exploded with a tank, and there are good players in hovercrafts and buggies. The jet noob swears at the tank and the tank and jet get into a huge argument and the buggy and hovercraft are staying away from it, possibly hosting their own games. The hovercraft is exploring and the Dash-buggy is sneaking up on the jet noob and...
I think it's to explain the Martian community to newcomers.

Theres something bugging me... A while ago now, whenever i put in the url for GTR's Sands of Time, the link would take me to the world GTR's Auto Cannons instead, then all of a sudden, that stopped, and the link would take me to Sands of Time. Now, whenever i put in the link, it takes me to another different world, i dont know what that ones called I've never even seen it before. It looks like this has been happening to everyone else. Does anyone know why this is happening and how to make the link work?

You'd have to dig a while to find that. It's likely on one of Aubrey's Version Updates, or a Plexpedia Update/Introduction to Plexpedia. It's probably either resolved, or it's at the back of the active post list.

Ah. Thanks for putting it here.
There are, but not in a list. On Plexpedia.com, click "content" and you will see ALL posts from any plexpedia sites. Most of these are not games. The only plexpedia games I am aware of are Syn3h, Mars Explorer, and Carbon Combat. Syn3h is still in beta, it will take over for mars explorer.

Download Unity at www.unity3d.com Then download Whirld 5 from this thread: http://syn3h.com/view-9509
Look for tutorials on how to use Whirld and you're set! You will need someone with Unity Pro to export the world as a playable world, however.

Actually, I'll rephrase that... I just worded it wrong:
(Not what type of video you take), but how do you video record your df? Not screenshots, but video recorded. HyperCam doesn't do anything 'cept make the screen move in the movements of my buggy. I was asking how to take video... Lol.

Yeah, I clicked autoforward off and I updated my profile-- still both of their PMs go to my e-mail, but some don't and just go to my PM box, but most go to my e-mail. (Something I just found out is that my PMs go to their e-mails too... but other people's pms go only to my pm, not my e-mail. Confusing, I know.)

Tigerstorm is currently in charge of ACC membership, but there is no actual "leader." I also know that Kruncher did not make it, he just previously held Tigerstorm's position. It was created by Supermarinespitfire, I believe.

1: It's too much like the Blitz, hypocritical, has flawed logic, etc. Yes, it has a purpose, which makes it better than other clubs I've encountered (Me: "So what's the purpose of your club?" Them: "its a club" Me: "Yeah, but what's the purpose?" Them: "IT'S A CLUB!!1!!2@1!!" [5 seconds] (Ender)+ has been banned) but the purpose makes it like the Blitz.
2: This is a matter of opinion, and I must say that Aubrey is NOT the best programmer in the world. Not even the best game programmer.

There's this white oval on Fai's Atlantis that has superpowers. It can climb up vertical slopes at insane speeds, run you over, it likes to jump off of cliffs, it's indestructable. If you want to go hunting for it, it is most present at Fai's Atlantis and shows up as a white dot on the minimap.

Does anyone else have this problem?
Whenever I try to connect to a game, I get an error message saying "www error" and when I go back to the start screen, the game suddenly can't "connect to the update server". This doesn't happen when I host my own game, only when I try to join a game. I am using the native mac app running Lion.

Why is it that I am the only person the enforces civilied discussions? Sven, Unknown, and I were all having a discussion. Unknown and sven started thowing insults at each other like "shut up," "you suck," etc. I was the one yelling out to be civilized and to only have a calm controvery with no insults. @ PanzerAce: Programming the bots so they fly and shoot would not be very hard at all. They can use the same physics as the ordinary buggy, and just be programmed to get as close to the player as possible by moving around in 3d space.
I think the reason the current Mars Explorer bots do not do that is because they are scripted in accordance to the terrain. By that I mean they can move around on bumpy or flat terrain to seek the player, but they will only be able to move around on the z and x axis of the terrain.

I'm having a bit of a problem with a Javascript, could someone who is script savvy help me?
Basically what this script does is get a variable from the input box, then if the variable entered in the input box is "Hello", then the script will execute a pop-up box alert that says "Well hi there!". If anything else is entered into the box, the script will execute a pop-up box that says "Goodbye, sir!".
The problem is, the script is always executing the "Well hi there!" pop-up box alert, regardless of what the text entered into the input box is... What am I doing wrong?
